Week 7 - MKTG 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami Chapter 7

Chapter 7 of Surfing the Tsunami contains a few interviews with influential individuals in the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Having the opportunity to interview these individuals and learn from them is incredible because who better to learn from than field experts. Some leaders in AI include Jim Spohrer, Irving Wladawsky-Berger, and Andrew Ng. Computer scientist, Jim Spohrer, has played a part in AI advancements such as common-sense reasoning and pattern recognition. Andrew Ng is the co-founder of Coursera and provides free online lectures for individuals who are interested in learning more about AI.

Many are concerned about the impact that the progression of AI will have on the job market. Irving Wladawsky-Berger believes new jobs will be created where old ones disappear. Although I think there will be a shift in the job market due to AI, I do not believe that it will be as drastic as people speculate. We will likely see more of a shift in job descriptions rather than doing away with positions as a whole. AI will hopefully be able to take over the mundane tasks and create more analytical roles for individuals. People are reluctant to change so I believe it will take some time before that is a big shift in the job market - the progression of AI implementation will be slower than expected.
